Review

This movie isn't terrible, there a lot of things that are great in this movie. Benedict cumberbatch does a great job as portraying this broken man who then slowly changes his ways to become a hero. Another thing that this movie does greatly is it visuals, as far out as the magic is in this movie the visuals give it the effect of it being real. But thats where the good things end. The films main problem is it's pacing, the story start out with showing us his past as a selfish and self centered brain surgeon who gets into a car accident. His hands get severe nerve damage leaving him unable to continue being a doctor, upset at the fact that he can no longer be famous he goes to find a way to fix himself, this comes in the form of magic. But after being there for a few month he somehow is able to conjure any spell with ease unbelievably. The story then continues to show him training and then suddenly picks up into the final act of the movie. This definitely takes you out of the movie and makes it feel odd. Another thing that makes this movie feel weird is the character development, we know from the beginning of the movie that he is selfish and only wants to go back to being a famous doctor, however his change of mind come unexpectedly out of no where without any real reason to why he would change. This is obviously the first mavel movie showing the world of magic, this transitions into the last major problem in the film. Marvel tries too hard too show you the world of magic. They beat you over the head with reality and time warping and giant beings from alternate dimension. This also creates a weird feeling for the cinematic universe as a whole, we have almost never been introduced to any type of magic before besides a slight use of magic from Loki and Scarlet witch in previous installments, just no where near the amount in this movie. overall this movie defiantly has its problems but is not terrible, so I will give this movie a 6.5/10
